| Member News – 10 February 2023 Weekly Update – Phil Barlow Opening day for 2023 certainly had the heat turned up with a temperature pushing 35 degrees mid-afternoon. It would be fair to say it was a bit of a struggle for some, however an enjoyable round was still had by most. With a couple of tournaments on close by and being a long weekend, our numbers were a little down to what we have had in recent years. It was great however to see many stay behind or come along for a meal and a drink to celebrate the start of this important year for our club. Celebratory centenary shirts are available in the pro Shop for purchase. Golf rules courses Canterbury Golf is running Levels 1 & 2 rules courses again this year during March and April and are being held at the Papanui library. Reminders First up - remember that this year’s programme book is now available in the Pro Shop, so make sure you get one to stay in touch with what is happening and when. The annual Allprint Shootout competitions are now on for both men and women. You have a few weeks still available to enter before we cut it off for the year mid-March with the Shootout played in November. A couple of things to keep our course in great condition.

Back-on-the-Line Relief Procedure: The back-on-the-line relief procedure, often used for penalty area and unplayable ball relief, has been simplified so that the player now drops their ball on the line, and the ball must come to rest within one club-length of where it is dropped. The ball does not have to move backward or sideways as part of the drop, as long as it is no closer to the pin than where you picked the ball up from.
