Club Captain Update – from Doug Claridge
We are well in to Autumn, and that brings with it a change of ground conditions and playing of the last week has highlighted to me the importance of course care. The course has been busy in the last 2 weeks with the U19 /U16 boys inter-provincial, and an increased number of green fee players over Easter consequently there has been an increase of divots not replaced or filled in. It is imperative that as members we set the example by carrying a sand bucket, replace divots and fill them. If you carry your clubs, it is not an excuse not to at least replace your divot and use one of your playing partners sand buckets to fill them in. The greens have softened, any ball will leave a pitch mark, so please repair you pitch mark especially at the front fringe of the green. The best way for our course to stay in great condition is for the playing members to care for it; this helps Colin and his greens staff to maintain the course in its great condition and maintain our enjoyment of it. The Saturday programme is busy for the next few weeks. The Harewood 4 ball best ball competition is nearing to a close. It’s quarter final time for the men this weekend, with semi-finals programmed to be played on the 11th of May for Ladies and Men. The first weekend of May is the Monthly Medal for men, and 36-hole Nancy McCormack foursomes for women. The shootout competition continues with 21 players posting 6 rounds, with the leaders Mike Stanley and Harvey Teulon in front on 228. There are plenty of rounds to play for the leader board to change before finals day on the 10th of November. The 13th hole par 3 is a tough hole, for most of us a par is a good result. Iain Findlater walked away with a hole in one on Easter Monday – well done Iain. The Easter Mixed Multi Tee shotgun had a smaller field than normal – 71 players. The weather was the best we had all Easter break, with great conditions for golf. Matt McLean had a good day shooting 66 off the stick with 6 birdies in his round. Results Easter Mixed Shotgun (Stableford) | Women | Men Div. I (+4 – 13.3) | Men Div. II (13.4-36) | 1st | Hyeza Kim 39 | Glynn Francis 42 | Mike Stanley 40 c/b | 2nd | Barbara Ford 38 | Matt McLean 39 | Peter Moore 40 | 3rd | Anne Dick 37 | Jason Strachan 38 | Errol Hume 38 | Enjoy your golf this week! |

Bereavement – Allan Bilbrough
It is with much sadness that we advise of Allan’s passing on April 21st, aged 83. Allan was a Harewood member for just over 50 years and had a number of roles at the Club in that time, being on the Executive Committee for 10 years from 1985 to 1995 before being elected Club President during 1995 – 1996. Our condolences go to Allan’s family and friends, with a number of our Midweek Men in attendance at the Service from 2pm today (Friday 26th) at Lamb & Hayward’s Westpark Chapel. |

Eagles Raffle 2019 - Saturday May 4th
from Les Scott |
It’s that time again!! As the highest seller of tickets we have not had too much joy with results, so 2019 could be Harewood’s year. We certainly deserve a few decent prizes! We will open at 7.30 am for all players. Tickets will be sold in the Pro Shop as usual. A reminder; tickets $2 - 5 tickets $10, and a Srixon ball 10 tickets $20, and a sleeve of Srixon balls (excellent value) This year, Debbie Scott and Gary Charmley will be assisting, as we have run out of Eagles through retirement and attrition. Thank you both for your generous assistance. Mike Stanley and Les Scott take over at 10.00am to complete the job. Thank you Mike for your continued support of this event. Your generous assistance in making this event a great success is really appreciated by the Eagles organisation and of course, Junior Golf throughout New Zealand. Best of luck for someone to win a new set of clubs! Thank you
