Weather is an unpredictable event, living in country of 4 seasons in one day, it has the ability to change plans. It creates robust debates due to its effects and leads to changes of programme. The programme for Men’s club champs qualifying has now evolved, it is 2 qualifying of 3 rounds. The last weekend of this month (31/08/2019) will now be a 3rd round of club champs. This allows those that did not play a chance to qualify with 2 rounds and make an even draw. At this point there are only enough players to have a full 8 in each grade. The Ladies programme will not be as advertised with a replacement FMS at the end of the month.
In looking into the crystal ball, I would like to see a full 16 in each grade. The format of the men’s club champs will also include a second side of the draw created from the first-round losers.
Finals day on the 19th October will be a busy day with a planned combined all Men’s and Ladies finals and barbeque to follow. With a Match play season, it is good time to get practice in playing against other golfers of similar ability.
Conditions for golf this weekend look good; the forecast is better than it has been for the last 3 Saturday’s, the greens are true and a putt downhill will be an interesting test of pace and line. Those with pollen allergies beware of the kowhai in flower, as well other trees.
No results; of the 44 who played Saturday 41 posted a club champs qualifying score after examining the rain radar.
The Woodward team continued to have a good start with a win last weekend. The Blank and the Pollock teams are competitive in their grades.
Best of luck golfing this weekend.
