Member Update – from Club Captain Doug Claridge

December is just around the corner and we move into the last month of the Golf programme for the year. The Mens Monthly Medal final is on the 7th of December. Those who have won a monthly medal this year will have received and email from dot golf advising them of their tee time and from myself advising them of the final. The Ladies have the all-Women’s closing day on the 7th of December. The Christmas Hamper closing day Shotgun is on the Saturday the 14th of December. The Pro shop will be taking entries for this event.

The Mens shootout was decided on Sunday in hot fine conditions. The winner was decided on the 18th with a putt off. Scott Manyweathers rode his luck on a couple of holes to come out as the winner from Gavin O’Hara. Scott’s win is especially notable as he played off scratch and conceded up to 22 shots to the highest handicap in the field. The standard of golf played by all was very high, with a net par leading into a play off on some holes. For those unaware what the shootout is, it is a combination of your 6 best stableford rounds over the season from January to the end of October. There is a fixed entry fee, and players can enter in the shootout up until the end of March. Next year the Shootout has received a generous boost from a member (Bruce Maetzig) who has organized an accommodation package at the Peninsula Hotel in Mooloolaba for 4 people for 5 nights worth $3,000 as first prize. Next year the Mens shootout will be the Peninsula Hotel Shootout. The mixing of tees last week spreads the fields, half the ladies field played off the white tees, and half played off the yellow tees. The comments made that this was enjoyable to play off different tees than the standard yellow tees.

All New Twilight Comp – results from night 2

Another quality field of 37 enjoyed great conditions again on Tuesday with the scoring reflecting it was the tough back 9 this week.

On the Men’s side Paul O’Neill kept his run of good form going with 22 points to pip John Keepa on 21. Victoria Webb-Smart won the Women’s draw on c/b from Catherine Butts after both scored 17 points.

Paul has a handy lead of 6 points after 2 weeks with a total of 46 stablefords and Catherine and Victoria are neck and neck on 37 points each.

A big thanks to Twilight Sponsor Tony Pole of Pole Electroplating and Nearest the Pin Sponsor Jamie Steel of Gateway Cargo.

Don’t forget that there is a minimum of 3 cards to be entered to be eligible for the overall prizes and there are 3 weeks left to run.
