Dear Guest, Friday, 06 March, 2020

Member Update – from Club Captain Doug Claridge

Somedays golf just goes your way! Well done to Fiona Nicholls who scored a hole in one on the 6th hole on Saturday. To add to that she also collected a share of the net eagles monies when hole 6 was drawn out of the net eagles bucket. Fiona also collects a sleeve of Titleist ProV1 courtesy of Pioneer Pools (Chris Sweeney) for a real eagle.

The draw is out for the Men’s Jennian 4BBB competition; it is in the pro shop, club house and a tee time advisement would have been sent to you via Dot Golf. A reminder that matches need to be played on or before the date. There were 3 pairs who missed out in the Jennian 4BBB competition, it was tough qualifying with the 33rd pair missing out after posting a net 67. The first round is next weekend, the 14th of March.

The uneven conditions on the fairways (dry and some damper patches) is leading to some “mud balls” occurring during a round. Consequently, PLACING has now been put back. You are able to lift, clean and place on any closely mown fairway from this weekend.

This weekend Men play Monthly medal black, blue and white tees for the respective grades. Ladies have FMS Stableford. The field is solidly booked on Saturday; please remember to play a provisional ball if you stray and may struggle to find your shot. It beats walking back to play one again!

The Pioneer Race to Millbrook

We are now 5 weeks into the Pioneer Race to Millbrook competition, and Les Keys and Bernie Norton are currently in equal 1st place with a score of nett 53. There is plenty of time for you to catch the current leaders, as the competition does not end until later in the year. Unfortunately the results you see if you access the competition on Dot Golf are very confusing, and although many players scores are correct, we have found some players scores to be incorrect by a shot or two, so we recommend you use the Dot Golf results as a guide only, and the correct results are as shown on the TV display playing in the clubrooms. We will also be putting a printed version of the top 30 or so players results on the notice board in the clubrooms in the near future for you to reference.

If you wish to know your current position, please email Bruce Maetzig -bruce.maetzig@outlook.com and he will send you your results.

The Armstrong Motor Group 2020 Twilight Golf Series – night 4
Allow images
Twilight reached the half-way mark last Tuesday with 37 players being rewarded with a fine evening after rain threatened earlier. Thanks for the Rainbow pic on 17 Tony Carroll.

Men’s honours for the 2nd week in a row went to Andrew Vickers (21) ahead of Nev Bamford (20). Special mention to Mike Gainsford who shot 3 under par on the back 9 for 22 points but declared himself ineligible as a pro. NTP on #15 was Bottle Lake stalwart John Brand.

For the women, Lynley Gainsford with 20 points also won in consecutive weeks taking the honours over Victoria Webb-Smart on 19. NTP on #13 was Debbie Scott.

We will start as usual at 6pm next week but may need to bring it forward for week with daylight being an issue as we draw to and end of Summer.

A reminder to please book so we can get tees and groups sorted on the night.

World Handicapping System (WHS)

NZ Golf will be launching the new WHS in early April, now confirmed as April 14th.

Information about the new system is on display in our noticeboards and also available online at www.golf.co.nz where if you login you will also see a preview of your scores using the WHS.

Bar Promotions for Members

Look out for a couple of promotions we will be running on the bar courtesy of Asahi.

A very nice Titleist golf bag is first up – ask bar staff for a card and earn a stamp for every tap beer purchased. A jug will earn you 3 stamps and a total of 4 stamps will get you one entry in the competition. Make sure you write your membership number on the back of the stamp card.

A winner will be drawn at the next mixed shotgun event on April 11th.

Subs Payments 2019/20

Between now and the end of our financial year (31 March) we will be reviewing all outstanding subscriptions to ensure overdue accounts are bought up to date and that monthly instalment payers are on track to pay in full by the end of 31 August.

If you have been sent an emailed statement recently please review this and get in touch if you have any queries.

Many thanks.
