Armstrong Motor Group Twilight – Night 1

The new series got underway on Tuesday with 42 players enjoying good conditions on course.

The scoring was pretty hot, particularly in the Women’s comp. Following on from her recent first hole in one at Taumarunui GC, Lydia Pomeroy (24) pipped Helen Beswick (23) on countback from Catherine Butts (23). Helen also took away the NTP prize on #6.

The Men saw Peter Ophuis a comfortable winner with 23 points ahead of 4 players on 20 points. Countback saw Nick Somerville take 2nd and Hamish Hodgson in 3rd place. NTP on #3 was Rob Gillespie.

This Tuesday sees the COVID delayed twilight series 1 conclude and it’s pretty tight in both divisions so those in contention need to score well on the demanding back 9.

Bookings in the pro shop are essential please so we can be organised on the night and please make sure you are here in plenty of time to get to your starting tee. Here’s to a big night of prizes (for some).

And don’t forget to bring cash for those amazing meat packs courtesy of Merivale Fresh Choice.

Firewood for Sale

We have quite a pile of firewood available (Gum & Old Pine) for purchase by members, family or friends – first in first served.

Cost will depend on trailer size but it will be considerably cheaper than market rates rest assured.

Please contact Colin 027 359 8843 or Chris 022 033 5572 to arrange a pick-up time. Cash is easiest but bank transfer also acceptable once price agreed.

Centre Circle Golf Day – Friday November 27th

We are pleased to again be hosting the annual fundraising tournament for the Centre Circle Trust, a Trust originally established by the late All White legend Steve Sumner to raise funds in support of football in Canterbury, particularly Juniors.

During the COVID lockdown period the Trustees gifted an amazing $1,500 to each and every Club in the Canterbury region, a total of $27,000 which Clubs used to support parents who may otherwise have struggled to pay their kids subs.

As a board member of Cashmere Technical FC, I see first-hand the great work these guys do for Football so open the attached promotional flyer and enter a team if you can.

Many thanks - Neville Bamford
