Dear Guest, Thursday, 23 September, 2021

Note from the GM
Dear Members,

A couple of quick things from me.

I am away on leave from tomorrow and next week so there won't be a Woodlands Word next Friday Oct 1st.

I have timed things perfectly with our new caterers G&T Catering starting this Monday 27th!

Tom and his team will be on deck from Monday so please say hi and chat to them about what sort of food you and your respective groups would like to see on offer, and more importantly what you will buy!

They will have a limited number of options available for the first few days until they settle in and their full menu gets underway.

See you all again when I'm back the week commencing Monday Oct 4th.

Neville

Member Update – from Club Captain Phil Barlow

The first round of match play for Club Champs got off to a great start last weekend, so congratulations to those who are through to round 2, and commiserations to those who have pushed through to the Plate round.

For the women who were not playing in the Club Champs last weekend there was a Stroke competition with the following results:

         1. Marguerite Leitch (Nett 71)

         2. Jung Hee Kim (Nett 72)

         3. Denise Guerin (Nett 72)

For the men who didn’t qualify for Club Champs, there was an International Stableford comp played last weekend. Results for that were:

Division 1

Division 2

1st

Neil Fraser

Brian Tinworth

2nd

Pedro Jung

Bruce Chalklen

3rd

Mark Duggan

Joshua Henderson

We are getting great numbers of players through on a Saturday now that the season allows for a longer day. However, we always have people calling in to try to get a spot later in the week or even on a Saturday morning, so please call the Pro Shop if you are unable to make your allotted tee time. It was very disappointing to have a whole tee slot not show-up and not call the Pro Shop mid-morning last Saturday, so please think of others. If there is a likelihood of a frost and you have an early start, please also call ahead to double check how things are at the course.

Please call the Pro Shop if you are unsure about your tee times for this weekend if you are either in Club Champs or Plate rounds as they have been posted in DotGolf.

Placing, Flags and other information

A reminder that we are still at Level 2 this weekend, so the same rules apply as last weekend. Please do not remove flags at any stage of your round. Rakes are in bunkers, and toilets, ball washers and water fountains will be back in use.

Pro Tip by Craig Mitchell

Struggling to get your rounds off to a good start?

I see so many golfers arrive right before their round, rush to the first tee, and make a poor first swing! Plan to arrive at the course 15 minutes earlier than usual and hit 25 balls on the driving range. You'll be surprised how much of an effect a small warm-up can have on your scores.

Enjoy your golf.

Volunteer Working Bee

Thank you to the 15 members who attended yesterday.

Great to get the gardens cleaned up and the on going task of pine cones and branch pick up from the last wind.

We are going to have another working bee next Wednesday 29th at 9am.

We will be concentrating on completing a tidy up around 11 and 12. Path edges, gardening, trimming and some planting.

Hope to see you there.

Many Thanks,

Julie Jones
