Pro Tip by Craig Mitchell
Practise the way you would like to play - Make it real
Next time you are chipping around the practice green just use one ball and putt the ball out. See if you can get up & down.
It makes it real and will help with the transition from practising to playing.
Enjoy your golf.
HGC and Vaccination Policy
Just a quick comment on behalf of the Board about the situation with the Club potentially moving towards a “Vaccination Only” policy under the Government’s new COVID-19 Protection Framework. This would entail all staff, members and visitors to the Club providing evidence that they are fully vaccinated. Clearly there is a lot to play out still about how this may be implemented and managed but already the Royal Auckland and the Grange Golf Club have moved to this policy as of November 1st. Indications are from industry surveys that 95%+ of NZ golf clubs will implement some form of vaccination policy once the Government announce more details and then guidance is issued by Golf NZ. We will await further movement and advice on this before communicating with members further.
New Asphalt Paths
The asphalt contractors will be working on holes 4 & 10 this Tuesday Nov 2nd and Wednesday 3rd. Tees blocks may be temporarily closed and/or shifted whilst they undertake this work so please bear with us during these times. The remaining holes to be asphalted will be in around 12 months’ time but work on the Amuri Chip paths will be ongoing as resources allow.
Armstrong Motor Group Twilight Series 2 2021
The first night of the 6-week 2nd series of 2021 Twilight kicked off on Tuesday night with record 50 starters crammed on to the front 9. The ladies division was a close-run affair with Catherine Butts taking top honours with 22 stablefords from Jo McNicholl (21) and Diane Deuart 3rd on countback (19). NTP on #3 was Anne Ott. The 40 strong men’s field saw a wide variety of scores returned with Aurecon’s Derek Watson pipping Jacob Ngaata on countback with 21 points with Ben Grimshaw 3rd on countback with 20 points. NTP on #6 was Emil Collins. Given next Tuesday 2nd is Melbourne Cup Day we will have the Clubhouse open right through for those who want to come out early, have a drink and some food whilst they watch the race around 5pm (maybe have a flutter also) and then tee up at 6pm on the back 9. Remember to book as space is limited.
