There was no woodlands word last week due to me being away with Neville and Colin representing the Harewood Golf Club at the John Deere Trans-Tasman Team Championship final at Moonah Links on the Mornington Peninsula in Melbourne. Although we didn’t win, we played well shooting 2 under the card (3 ball Ambrose scramble), on a very tough Moonah Open Links course. The greens were hand cut and rolled in the morning making putting very tough. Well done to Neville who put his tee shot on the par 3 11th hole closest to the pin in the competition.
The weekends weather looks like it may be a bit damp and drizzly for the semi-final rounds of the club Champs in the men’s and ladies’ grades. Finals are next weekend the 19th of October. This year following the completion of the finals a prize giving will be held at the end of day around 5.30 pm in the club house. The caterers are going to put a BBQ on a at low cost. More details will follow next week.
A change to the advertised programme for the men for those not involved in the club champs programme. The men are playing an International (modified) stableford, and it is a counter for the Shootout. The men’s shootout final day will be Sunday 24/11/2019. Those who are entered at present have been sent an email in respect to this and thank you to those who have replied.
Congratulations to Scott Manyweathers who along with Matt McLean has been named in the Canterbury team to play in the South Island Interprovincial at Waitikiri on the 19/20th of October. The Woodward Cup team are back in action this week at Pegasus taking on Weedons. Presently they lie in 3rd and are looking good to make the semifinals. The Blank team Unfortunately last weekend suffered a 5-3 loss against Weedon’s who were placed last in the table. Weedons however were strongly bolstered by players from their Woodward team as there were no Woodward games last weekend. Playing Russley at Russley in the last round robin match this weekend, we are going to have to get as many individual wins as we can to maintain a top 4 finish for the season.
