Dear Guest, Friday, 25 October, 2019

Member Update – from Club Captain Doug Claridge

Congratulations to all the finalists and winners who played the club champs last weekend. The combined day of finals in some accounts worked well, and next year with some tweaking some of the logistics and timings we will be running the same type of day next year. The feedback from playing club champs at his time of year has been in most accounts positive. The match committee met this week to debrief the day and start planning for next year’s programme.

Men’s Club Champions 2019:

Senior: yet to be played Scott Manyweathers Vs Phil Barlow due to Scott representing Canterbury in in the SI Interprovincials

Intermediate (36 holes): Ramon Coleman

Junior A (18 holes): Malcolm Cameron

Junior B (18 holes): Graeme Clarke

The course is looking fantastic at the moment, however with the rain this week, the fairways have softened, and the greens are holding. Please remember to keep filing and replacing your divots and repairing your pitch marks to keep the condition the course looking great. Spring growth has occurred in the rough areas, if you are wayward off the tee, please hit a provisional instead of having to return back to hit another one if you are unable to find your first ball. With the fire this week, Colin has had messages of support, and offers of equipment to continue to maintain the course in the great condition the greenkeeping team have been able to produce.

This week the Men have a combined stableford, and the last qualifying round for the Men’s Shootout. The Men’s shootout final day is the 24th of November. At present a combined score of 228 looks likely to make the finals day. The Ladies have a stroke round and their final round of their shootout. The Ladies shootout is next weekend the 3rd of November.

Volunteers Working Bee
Wednesday 20th November 9.30 – 11.30

Ladies will be doing some Gardening. Men will be cleaning up cones, branches etc between fairways. A trailer would be great, and hopefully will be able to get the use of the greenkeepers vehicles we used last time.

We will have bags available for pinecones if anybody would like to take them home.

See you there.

Driving Range – Closure for Mowing

Members are advised that with the growing season upon us we will be closing the range for mowing every Wednesday morning until 10:00am.

2019/20 Membership, Reciprocal and Bag Tag Cards

These cards are available for collection from the pro shop.

Please collect these as there are a large number still uncollected from last year.

Please also ensure you display your bag tag once collected.

Subs Payments 2019/20

There are still a number of subs payments due from members so please contact the office if you haven’t received an invoice and we will check your contact records.

For those paying by regular instalments can you please check your AP has been amended to reflect the minor subs increase this year.

It is very time consuming to chase subs arrears and we also don’t want to start limiting playing privileges so please check your subs are current.

Pollock Cup Update – from manager Julie Jones

Happy to report we have made the Semi Finals again for the second year running.

After having a loss at Pegasus to the unbeaten, very young Russley team on the 29th Sept, we then had the bye in the last round. We were sitting in 3rd spot and results of Round 7 at Harewood on the 13th of October would determine if we would make the Semi Final.

Fortunately, we have qualified 4th and will once again play Russley at Templeton on the 10 of November. Should we triumph, we will either play Christchurch or Pegasus.

We wish the Woodward Cup Team all the best for their semi-final match also against Russley. Let’s get two Harewood teams in the Final. Come and watch some great golf, we would appreciate your support.

Good Luck and Good Golfing Harewood!!!
