Member Update – from Club Captain Doug Claridge

Next week is the CHRISTMAS HAMPER CLOSING DAY SHOTGUN at 12.00pm. Entry fee is $15.00, and the registration desk will be open form 11.00am. Please enter at the Pro Shop. This is the first shotgun the club has had for a few months and is a good opportunity to play with different partners in a mixed field. The NW weather flow over the last 2 weeks has dried the course and the rough out. There is plenty of run and getting out of the heavy rough is a lesson in taking your medicine. The drier conditions are helping the scoring out in the Saturday competition. The men this week have the Monthly Medal finals for those who have won a monthly medal this year, or a combined stableford for those not in the monthly medal finals.

All New Twilight Comp – results from night 3

Strong and blustery conditions challenged the 36 players on Tuesday but this wasn’t obvious from some of the scoring on the night.

One of the ChCh Hackers Group and Templeton member Stone Whareumu shot an amazing 26 stablefords to win by 3 from David Ott in the Men’s division. Catherine Butts continued her good run of form to take the honours with 20 points with Anne Ott 2nd on countback with 17 after finishing equal with Joy Lord and Jo McNicholl.

A big thanks to Twilight Sponsor Tony Pole of Pole Electroplating and Nearest the Pin Sponsor Jamie Steel of Gateway Cargo.

There are 2 weeks left to run so don’t miss the chance to post a great score and put pressure on the leaders. See you all on Tuesday for a 6pm shotgun.

GMANZ Board Appointment

I am pleased to advise that I have been appointed to the national board of the Golf Managers Association of NZ (GMANZ) as the South Island (Northern) Representative.

I join the current board comprising GM’s from Remuera, Pukekohe, Hastings, Mt Maunganui, Shandon and a yet to be appointed Club from the Otago region.

The Association’s aims are to help managers with the everyday management of their clubs through the provision of forums for the exchange of views, experiences and information, to provide educational programmes to increase their knowledge of club management and to encourage networking among its local and international databases.

Neville
