Dear members,

The HGC Board wish to acknowledge the magnificent support the Club has received from members and sponsors over the past few months during the COVID-19 pandemic.

We have all been affected to varying degrees by this unprecedented global crisis both personally and professionally, and the Club is certainly no exception. Whilst we appreciate that we still have a long way to go to recovery, the positive encouragement and ongoing financial support of our sponsors and membership is truly heart-warming.

In terms of where we are currently at, our inability to trade in the pro shop and clubhouse during Levels 4 and 3 has obviously had a major impact on our revenues and forecasts for the financial year ahead. This, coupled with grant funding being unavailable for potentially the rest of 2020 and beyond, means we are facing a decrease in forecast revenues of over $100,000 for the coming financial year. We are working to mitigate the financial impact of this.

Fortunately, the lockdown came right at the end of our financial year end of 31 March. Whilst we are currently preparing the financial accounts for 2019-20, we can advise that the result will still be another significant improvement on past years.

The Board also wish to acknowledge Neville’s efforts in keeping members informed during Levels 4 and 3. The condition of the course when we were able to return was exceptional, so a big thanks to Colin, Chris, and Jared also.

As advised in the recent Woodlands Word, we have seen a significant increase in new members since lockdown with some 40+ signing up since March. Whilst this increase in membership is a very pleasing national trend, we can take some confidence that Harewood is seen as a quality, cost-effective option for those looking to take up the game or move from other clubs. Please take the time to welcome our new club members.

Whilst the situation the Club faces is a challenging one, we believe we are well-positioned to weather the storm and continue to improve the member experience. The value of Harewood members has never been more evident than in the past several weeks and as a Board we are committed to delivering a high-quality experience for you all. Thank you to all members who give their time to the club in various ways, which is critical to the success of the club.
