Winter has arrived this week, for those playing on Saturday keep a close eye on the forecast weather on Saturday afternoon. At present it looks like players could get a little damp. The fields are full for the first weekend of 2 tee starts , for those playing in the early tee slots from 10.00am please take your time getting around the first 9 holes (2 hrs.) as there are tee bookings right up to 12.00pm. You will need to wait if the groups have teed off before you start your second nine holes. If you are not going to play, and are booked in, please contact the pro shop to cancel your booking as at present there is a wait list for players wanting to play.
If there is no frost forecast, and you wish to play prior to the 2 tee start at 10.00am there is a small number of tee slots available from 7.45am to 8.15am. This is on the proviso that you are through 9 holes before the scheduled 2 tees start at 10.00am. Please contact the pro shop and have a conversation with Craig in respect to playing.
The course is now in winter condition. The fairways are softening, greens and fringes are soft. Please continue to repair your divots, carry a sand bucket, and fix your pitch marks (and others) on the green. I played on Wednesday and repaired numerous divots on fairways and pitch marks on greens that had been left unrepaired by players. Our greens are in good condition please help to keep them that way by being proactive in repairing your pitch marks. Colin, Jared, and Chris our green staff put a lot of effort in to keep our course in good condition, so please do your bit to help. A big thank you to all those who came and put effort into the gardens and collecting pinecones at the volunteer working bee on Wednesday. It is these efforts which keep our course looking great and allow Colin and his team focus on the course conditioning.
We have a great driving range and practice green to warm up on. I had a conversation with a frustrated greenkeeper who watched players hitting balls off the back-tee block on No1 to onto the driving range. He asked me to remind members not to hit practice balls off the No 1 tee block on the driving range but use the range! Hitting off this tee block potentially creates damage that is not related to normal play. Players also should have noticed the signs on the front of the practice green asking players not to chip from this area , please respect the greenkeepers and help keep the front of the practice green free from divot / scuff marks , and use the chipping area at the rear of the practice green.
Last weekend due to circumstances out of our control, the scheduled 4BBB par round needed to be changed. The dot golf system crashed nationally and would not allow any inputting of scores in any 4BBB format, consequently the men’s competition was changed to a Stableford competition in two grades.
Best of luck for those in the Men second round of the Jennian Home 4BBB (sponsors) Cup matches, for others it is a Par round. Ladies have LGU, Putting, 1st Round Paterson Salver and Qualifying for Williamson and Thompson Trophies.
