Member Update – from Club Captain Doug Claridge

Break you jackets out for Saturday golf this weekend; the forecast looks like a fresh cold Sou’wester with showers forecast to clear in the afternoon. However, like all weather forecasts it may change by the time we get to Saturday.

The 2020 club championships are coming up this month. Qualifying for the men’s club championships will be two rounds, with the top 8 in Seniors and top 16 in the Intermediate, Junior A and B grades. Qualifying rounds will be on Saturday 15 august and Saturday 22 August, with the first round of match play on the 29th of August. Seniors will play off the black tees, intermediate off the blue and Junior A & B off the white tees. Handicap grades please see below. Ladies club champs qualifying is scheduled to begin on the 29th of August. As per major club events the matches are to be played on or before the scheduled date for the match.

This weekend is the Ashby Mugs which is combined stableford event; it is not a multi tee start as advertised in the programme book. The Saturday golf programme now reverts to what is printed in the 2020 programme book.

Last weekend the weather turned on a stunning day for the monthly medal, and the results show it.

Clubhouse Heating

We have received a number of quotes to replace the old central heating system and a decision will be made next week on the most suitable, cost-effective solution.

We will be moving to heat-pumps which, despite the initial capital outlay, will see our power consumption and subsequent costs significantly reduce going forward.

New Greenkeepers Shed

The fire replacement greenkeepers shed design and specification has been signed off and work on site preparation and construction will get underway in the coming weeks.

The new site will be directly opposite the main greenkeepers building and not on the old site.
