Member Update – from Club Captain Doug Claridge

Sun is forecast for Saturday, a bit of a relief after a grey week. There are a number of events coming up in the programme that members need to be aware of to book into, and if they have qualified confirm their entry.

Firstly, Monthly medal finals are held on the 5th of December. Players who have won a monthly medal have been contacted to confirm their entry. If you haven’t please contact the Proshop or myself to confirm your entry. Secondly, the Christmas Hamper closing day Shotgun is on the 12th of December. There are two starts this year, one at 8.00am and the afternoon shotgun at 12.30pm. Entries are being taken by the Proshop.

This weekend is the final play off for the two players, Errol Hume and Helen Beswick who tied for the Race to Millbrook Eclectic event. They are playing a nett round with the best nett score to decide the winner. A big thank you to Bruce Maetzig who has worked to collate the results and to Chris Sweeney of Pioneer Pools who has sponsored the prize. For the men it is a Par round and for the ladies it is 4BBB nett event.

The men’s shootout was completed on Sunday. The weather was less than ideal, more winter like than spring like as we have had in past years. It is a long day for those players who make it through to the final holes, and equally a short day for those who are knocked out early. Due to the number of entries this year (50) and the addition of the Peninsula Beachfront resort accommodation package (7 nights in Mooloolaba) as first prize the prize table was full. If you made it past hole 6 you gained a prize. Congratulations to Scott McKenzie who beat Peter Coleman in a putt-off on the 18th to decide the winner.

Metro Glass Christmas Function

Members are advised that we have a large Christmas function here tomorrow night (28th) starting at 7pm but set up will start from 6pm.

Can we ask that members do not move the tables from their current positions and there may be some minor disruption for those members still in the Clubhouse after 6pm.

Many thanks.

Firewood for Sale

We still have some supply of firewood available (Gum & Old Pine) for purchase by members, family or friends – first in first served.

Cost will depend on trailer size but it will be considerably cheaper than market rates rest assured.

Please contact Colin 027 359 8843 or Chris 022 033 5572 to arrange a pick-up time. Cash is easiest but bank transfer also acceptable once price agreed.

Armstrong Motor Group Twilight – Night 4

The 4th round of 6 in the AMG Twilight Series 2 was played in breezy conditions with 46 players taking on our challenging back 9.

Some close results in the Ladies division with countbacks needed to determine the placegetters. Anne Ott compiled 20 points to take the win ahead of Catherine Butts on countback with Denise Guerin 3rd on countback from series leader Lydia Pomeroy. NTP was also Denise.

The Men’s division was a little more decisive with series leader Nigel Paterson going back-to-back with another impressive 22 point haul with Campbell Moulder (21) taking 2nd over Marcus Dooney who was 3rd on countback (20) over Ruben Carson and Kieran Foote. NTP went to Tony Grimshaw.

Both Lydia and Nigel have quite substantial leads so it will take something special for them to be caught in the remaining 2 weeks. See you all on Tuesday.
