Dear Guest, Friday, 15 January, 2021

GM's New Year Message

Just a quick note to extend a warm welcome back to all Harewood members.

We have continued to be very busy over the break and with the rest of the World still struggling to contain the virus I think we can expect most of 2021 to be similar to post-lockdown behaviour in 2020, in terms of golf being very popular at least.

Our membership is holding steady at around 600 with strong ongoing enquiry, and certainly lots of visitors and green fee players enjoying our great facilities.

We take delivery of a new driving range ball picker next week and work will finally begin shortly on the new greenkeepers shed. There are numerous projects and initiatives we hope to be able to fund in 2021 and these will be advised to members as they are prioritised.

Luke from the pro shop has been busy cleaning up the old BBQ hut on the patio and once this is operational again we hope to put it to use whilst the weather stays warm.

More from me in the coming weeks and months but in the meantime enjoy your golf and let’s hope we can continue to enjoy the freedoms we have in our wonderful country.

Used Clubs Required in the Pro Shop

We are needing to replace some hire sets in the pro shop and also acquire a number of Driver’s for hire on the driving range.

If you have a spare set and bag lying around at home that you no longer need then please contact Craig in the first instance. The clubs need to be of a fairly high standard for hire purposes so please don’t be offended if we politely say “no thanks”, and both left and right-handed and men’s and ladies clubs are required.

We are particularly keen to secure the driving range Drivers (left & right) as the current stock is low and as you can imagine they get quite a hammering! The quality of this stock doesn’t need to be as high so get Craig to have a look at anything you may have.

Many thanks.

Twilight 2021

The Armstrong Motor Group Twilight comp returns with Series 1 commencing on Tuesday February 9th.

It’s a 6-week series which means the last night will be Tuesday March 16th. All competition details remain the same with weekly prizes and overall series winners based on a minimum of 4 rounds.

Again, bookings are essential as we do have a limit to how many we can get on one 9 each week.

Refer to the attached or our website for full details -  https://www.harewoodgolf.co.nz/upcoming-events?ComeFromCat=1554

I look forward to hosting another great series on Tuesday’s.

Ray Blank Book – “A Son of Christchurch”

Some of you will be aware that Ray Blank was the creator of the original Harewood course and his history in golf and many other aspects of early Christchurch have been well documented in this book by Louise Deans, his granddaughter.

I have a supply here in the office for sale at $35 for those who may be interested in learning more about Ray and his influence in the education sector in Christchurch and the development of Harewood, Waimairi Beach, Bottle Lake and Waitikiri courses.
