Member Update – from Club Captain Doug Claridge

You know that it’s hot when the magpies are listless and all you can hear on the fairways is the crack of pinecones opening in the heat. It was a very warm start to the week, for those who were brave (or stupid) it was very hot on the golf course! The weekends weather looks cooler with forecast showers to clear and a cool 20 degrees. Saturday’s field was one of the largest that has played in a few months with a 198 playing. This weekend it is a stableford round for the men and ladies have the opening day stableford competition to open their competition season.

Next week is the opening day shotgun. There are 2 starts one at 8am and the other at 12.30 pm. The Proshop is taking entries. Shotguns are a great way to play with other members outside your normal playing group. For this reason, you can ask to play with a partner but not in a specific four. Entry fee is $15 which included twos, net eagles, nearest the pin and the stableford competition.

The following weekend is a Monthly medal (blue tees) for the men, and then following is the first round of qualifying for the Harewood 4 ball best ball competition. In the men 32 pairs will qualify with the best nett of 2 qualifying rounds. The 4BBB competition has 2 rounds of qualifying and the best round will count. Please make sure if you enter this competition that you can play the final round on 22nd of May. The dates of the knockout rounds are in the programme. Shootout entries are growing, 61 had entered on Saturday. The final date for entry is the 6th of March, and a reminder your score does not count in the shootout until the entry fee has been paid.

Congratulations to John Hamilton who had a hole in 1 on the par 3 13th on Saturday. By all accounts he hit a fairway wood off the tee and it never looked like missing! Well done John!

Results: Saturday 23 January.

Used Clubs Required in the Pro Shop

We are needing to replace some hire sets in the pro shop and also acquire a number of Driver’s for hire on the driving range. If you have a spare set and bag lying around at home that you no longer need then please contact Craig in the first instance.

The clubs need to be of a fairly high standard for hire purposes so please don’t be offended if we politely say “no thanks”, and both left and right-handed and men’s and ladies clubs are required.

We are particularly keen to secure the driving range Drivers (left & right) as the current stock is low and as you can imagine they get quite a hammering! The quality of this stock doesn’t need to be as high so get Craig to have a look at anything you may have.

Many thanks.

Twilight 2021

The Armstrong Motor Group Twilight comp returns with Series 1 commencing on Tuesday February 9th.

It’s a 6-week series which means the last night will be Tuesday March 16th. All competition details remain the same with weekly prizes and overall series winners based on a minimum of 4 rounds.

Again, bookings are essential as we do have a limit to how many we can get on one 9 each week. Refer to the attached or website for full details.

I look forward to hosting another great series on Tuesday’s.

Neville
