Another fine northeast weekend is forecast, keeping the fairways with plenty of run. For those playing Saturday this weekend, it is the first monthly medal of the year. Blue tees for all grades, players should enjoy the change of course, some may find that trouble is now not in play. The change to the new handicap system and the re-rating of the course has now given a much more even handicap allowance when moving from the white tees out to the blues. Most players should move out 2 to 3 shots on their handicap. Please remember it is a stroke round – hit a provisional if you head into trouble off the tee, so you don’t have to walk back to play another.
The Harewood 4 Ball Best ball qualifying round(s) are next on the programme. Men have two qualifying rounds and the ladies one. 32 pairs qualify in the men and 16 in the ladies. This is a great match play team competition. Players must play with their partners to qualify and post a combined nett score. The knockout match play rounds are March 13rd & 27th, April 17th, then May 8th and the final on May 22nd.
The two shotgun starts for opening day were well supported, with a larger field in the morning. Splitting the field to two shotguns has improved the speed of the round, and reduced members frustration of having to wait when there is over 120 people in a shotgun.
