It’s another fine day forecast for golf this Saturday. The course continues to be dry and fast on the fairways and the green staff are watering the greens regularly through the day, as I found out whilst standing on the 13th green when the sprinklers came on. The wetting was a welcome relief from the 30-degree heat that Christchurch was experiencing! With the regular watering of the greens pitch marks are more noticeable, please remember to repair your pitch marks and if you can’t find your own, repair someone else’s.
The men’s 4BBB competition is under way. The second round of qualifying is this weekend, with the first round matches of match play scheduled for the 13th of March. The draw will be completed for the 32 pairs who qualify next week and posted in the Proshop and online. At present there are 43 pairs entered, with the leaders at nett 60, and the 32nd pair on 71. I expect there will be some movement on the leader board after Saturday’s round. For those not playing in the 4BBB it is a stableford round. Ladies have a hidden holes stableford.
Next week is a monthly medal. It is off the black tees for all grades. As with the blue tees monthly medal, there has been a change in the course rating. Players now receive a number of shots when moving from the white tees where the course slope rating is 117 (white) to 125 (black). I move from a 6 on the white to a 10 on the black. The black tees is a challenge, but not so much to intimidate you!
