It looks like the first autumn rains could be arriving before Easter Saturday’s shotguns start. The rain that is forecast is set to clear for Saturday in time for a fine afternoon. For those who are not away the Easter Shotgun start is at 11.30am. When I checked today there are still places available, and it does not look like a full field. For those playing in Saturday’s shotgun please it is a $15.00 entry fee which include twos, net eagles, nearest the pin and straightest drive prizes. It is always good to see a full club house after a shotgun event.
The course is starting to look autumnal. The rough is thickening and was heavy to play out of today as there has been a bit of autumn growth, but the biggest difference is that the long run out has gone with the fairways being a little lusher and not being as dry. Our greens continue to be true and running at a good pace.
A reminder that this weekend daylight saving finishes. The clocks are rolled back and hour, we have a bit of extra daylight in the morning, but the nights draw in for the next 3 months.
The Eagles Golfing Society of New Zealand are having their annual raffle sale on Saturday the 10th of April. The Eagles Golf Society annually contribute to New Zealand Junior golf, The Halberg Disability Sports Foundation trust and promote golf and good fellowship. The raffle desk will be manned by some of the senior and long-term members of the club. The Eagles raffle annually has great prizes and is a worthy cause to support.
Well done to the Metro A and Metro B teams who have made the semi-finals of the Canterbury Interclub competitions on the 11th of April. Hopefully they can get a win and advance to the finals on the 18th of April.
