Member News – 22 December 2023

2023 General Manager

As I celebrate with my children and their year of school (year 9 and year 5) I do wonder where the year has gone. I don’t think anyone I know has said to me they are not busy in either their personal lives or with work, so I have no doubt that 2024 will be no different. So, we should make the most of our time to relax, reflect and enjoy our time over the next week with family and friends during the Christmas and holiday period.

As our centenary year draws to a close and the festive season is upon us, we want to extend our warmest wishes to each one of you. It has been a great year filled with memorable moments on and off the golf course.

I am unable to name you all, but the club does not work without the numerous volunteers who dedicate their time to make your golf experience a positive one. To everyone I thank you all and I look forward to working alongside you all next year.

I will however highlight one person and thank our Club Captain, Phil Barlow for his efforts over the past year, he does a lot behind the scenes that many do not see and often goes unnoticed.

On behalf of our board and staff we want to express our gratitude to each of you for being an integral part of our golf community. Thank you for being a valued member of the Harewood Golf Club and here's to more birdies, pars, and unforgettable moments on the course in the year ahead!

Please take note of our bar and Café holiday hours during this festive season below.

Weekly Update - By Club Captain Phil Barlow

The annual Christmas Hamper Shotgun was blessed with fine and warm conditions with the Norwest wind getting up for the afternoon field. The Christmas Elves: Catherine Butts and Diane Deuart, who donated their time to organise the prizes and stayed to help present at both prizegiving’s must be thanked for making the Closing Day a success. It is great to see a clubhouse full of members enjoying each other’s company in the last official day of golf for the season.

The programme now runs as a summer cup up until the opening day in early February.
