Weekly Update – from Vice Club Captain Doug Claridge
The weather forecast has improved from earlier this week for golf this weekend, much better than last! The wet 3 weeks of summer has left the course looking green and lush for this time of year.
It is the first round of qualifying for the Harewood 4BBB competition for men and ladies this weekend. For the men, it is the best round to qualify over two rounds. The second date for qualifying for the men and women is the following weekend. 32 pairs qualify in the men’s and 16 in the ladies for the match play rounds. Please be aware of the semifinal and final dates of the competition (available in 2022 programme book) these are dates that these matches must be played on.
The wet weather last Saturday reduced the field size for the men monthly medal and for the ladies’ stroke round (and all irons). The weather didn’t really worsen until the late afternoon once the afternoon players had reached the 19th.

Pro Tip by Craig Mitchell
Club yourself for the conditions
My nine iron goes 130 metres on the full, so if I’m out there and it’s a three-club head wind I hit my 6 iron which is normally my 160 metre club. With good club selection for the conditions in Canterbury you can easily save yourself three shots on a really windy day.
Happy golfing

Thursday 17 Feb - Par, Mystery Pairs & Putting Cup 1st Rd (White Tees)
A very good number being 34 turned up for today’s game. A 4BBB had been a late alteration to the draw but due to some computer glitches with Dot-Golf this was scrapped, and we reverted to the Par scenario. Apologies for the confusion.

Armstrong Motor Group Twilight 2022 – Series 1
Night 4 of 6 in the 2022 Twilight saw 54 players take on the back 9 in pleasant conditions. Amelia Ching continued her great recent form with a decisive win on 23 points, with Joy Lord 2nd on countback over Catherine Butts, both with 17. NTP on #13 wasn’t struck so this will jackpot next week. With 4 counting rounds on the board Amelia has 79 points with her nearest rival on 71 so she will take some catching!
Taylor Killick pipped Scott Double on countback in the men’s comp with 21 a piece and Rob Gillespie also took 3rd on countback from Mike Maynard, both on 20 points. NTP on #15 went to Jason Blair. The men’s race is a bit tighter with Taylor and Derek Watson on 78, 1 ahead of Jason so all to play for in the men’s comp.
