Hi everyone,
Time flies with my first week in the USA almost over and what a week it has been.
After a few days of adjusting to the 30+ degree weather, we started our first event, The Dogwood Invitational, played at Druid Hills in Atlanta Georgia. The course we played was quite short, hilly and tight but in excellent condition with greens running at around 12 to 13 on the stimpmeter, very fast!
In the first round I had 74, with four 3 putts putting an end stopping of any chance of a good round. The second and third rounds were played on the same day as storms were forecast in the area. In round two I shot 73, but missed the cut which was the top 40 players, and was set at -5
During round three there was history making round with a player shooting a -15 round of 57, which is just a crazy score, especially in a tournament, although he didn’t go on to win the tournament, the winning 4 round score being -21.
With the tournament being moved forward I have had a couple days spare in Atlanta where my billets who I'm staying with got me the opportunity to play East Lake Golf Club where the Tour Championship on the PGA tour is played every year, this was a such an amazing chance and the course lived up to all expectations.
I also was able to go the 71,000 seat Mercedes-Benz Stadium to see Mexico- Venezuela in soccer which was absolutely mental, this was a big change to watching the Crusaders in AMI stadium…
Overall my game is in a solid space heading up to New York next week for the Monroe Invitational. I just need to settle into my game earlier in the week and get the ball rolling on the greens more consistently to move my name up the leader board.
Thank you all for you continued support, feel free to like Matt McLean Golf on Facebook as well.
