Dear Guest, Friday, 31 January, 2020

Member Update – from Club Captain Doug Claridge

The weather forecast is for fine and warm conditions on Saturday for the opening Day Shotgun.

It looks like a full field for the afternoons golf. Please be aware that if you are looking online, or receive a reminder from Dotgolf about your tee time or number of tee you are off please make sure you consult the draw at the registration desk .The new online booking system is great to organize your golf games and make a booking but it can send out some erroneous messages when organizing a multi tee start.

The match committee met this week and reviewed the programme. There always some minor changes or clarifications that need to be made. Firstly, the Harewood 4BBB (Sponsors Cup). Men have 2 qualifying rounds for 32 pairs to qualify one best round. Secondly the Pioneer Race to Millbrook. After the 1st round played last week, we have had to make a small amendment to this competition. From now on, if you are playing a match play round, that score cannot form part of the eclectic competition, as in many cases, putts are given or a hole is conceded without finishing the hole, meaning that your score card is not what you actually scored on each hole. So…. starting from the next round (Saturday 1st Feb) you will need to tick the box to enter the competition, (it is still free) and if you are playing a match play game in the future, please do not enter the eclectic competition that day.

A reminder that the course is closed next weekend for the Lamb and Hayward Canterbury Strokeplay. The course is also closed on Tuesday 25th and Wednesday 26th for the Eagles Golf Society National Convention. A Volunteers morning for a garden clean-up is planned for the 19th of February.

New 2020 Twilight Competition
Armstrong Motor Group Twilight Golf Series

The details for the all-new 2020 Armstrong Motor Group Twilight Golf Series starting Tuesday February 11th have been finalised and full details will follow in a separate email.

Saturday Raffles Money

A huge thanks to the organisers and all members who contribute via the Saturday raffles.

We have recently called upon these funds to pay for the 351 new distance markers that you will have seen on the fairway sprinkler heads and we have also ordered new red 90m, white 135m and blue 180m fairway distance markers, in addition to new tee markers for the purple course to make these more obvious.

All up this is an investment of around $5,000 so great to know that the running of and contributing to the raffles each week is put to good use in a tangible and visible way to help the Club and its members.

Cheers!

Waitangi Day – Bookings Required

Members are advised that given there is no scheduled programme we have released all tee times on Waitangi Day to members and the public with a $35 special for green fee players.

If you wish to play please book online or contact the pro shop. The Clubhouse will be open so please make use of the bar and catering also.

Member Congratulations

There have been some noteworthy performances recently from members Scott Manyweathers, Ryan Barham and Bruce McFarlane.

Scott won the recent Waitikiri Open senior title with rounds of 72 and 69 with Ryan having the best nett with rounds of 75 and 76. Well done fellas.

Bruce had a day to remember with his recent divisional win at Millbrook in the NZ finals of the BMW Golf Cup International event. He will be winging his way to South Africa in March for the BMW GCI World Finals being held at Fancourt Golf Resort, near George in South Africa. What an experience Bruce - enjoy and please make us jealous upon your return with a note of your trip!
