Dear Guest, Friday, 28 February, 2020

Member Update – from Club Captain Doug Claridge

The Jennian Homes 4 Ball Best Ball competition is underway. Ladies had their qualifying round on last Saturday ready for the first round on the 14th of March. Men have the second qualifying round on Saturday. Presently there are 33 pairs entered, so at present one pair will miss out. As of Saturday – it is me! Please remember rounds of this competition need to be played on or before the next round if you are unable to play on the date specified in the programme. Please avail yourself to the general outline and playing conditions on page 8 of the programme book. The draw for the men will be posted in the pro shop and online once it is made next week. The Mens Jennian Homes 4BBB first round is also the 14/03/2020.

Those with keen eyes will have noticed that the distance markers on the course have been replaced. The funding for this has come from the Saturday raffle monies. Thank you for the members who have been supporting the raffles, and especially to John Gold, Graeme Clarke and Don Robertson who run the raffles on a Saturday afternoon prior to prize giving and organize the meat packs through Peter Timms Butcher in Bishopdale.

Well done to Matt McLean for qualifying for the NZ Open in Queenstown earlier this week. Hopefully we get to follow his progress over the weekend.

The Armstrong Motor Group 2020 Twilight Golf Series – night 3

The 3rd night of 8 saw a tight battle for Men’s honours and a clear winner for the Ladies.

For the men there were 6 scores of 20 points with Andrew Vickers coming out on top on countback over last week’s winner Daniel Barr. NTP was El Presidente Greg Hedges.

On the Women’s side it was more clear-cut with Lynley Gainsford (23) taking the honours with Debbie Scott (20) pipping Jo McNicholl and Victoria Webb-Smart on countback for 2nd spot. NTP went to a fast-improving Vanessa Johns.

Next week is halfway in the series so a reminder that players need to have a minimum of 5 scores to be in the hunt for the series prizes.

A reminder to please book so we can get tees and groups sorted on the night.

World Handicapping System (WHS)

NZ Golf will be launching the new WHS in early April, anticipated to be April 6th.

Information about the new system is on display in our noticeboards and also available online at www.golf.co.nz where if you login you will also see a preview of your scores using the WHS.

Further details are attached.

Bar Promotions for Members

Look out for a couple of promotions we will be running on the bar courtesy of Asahi.

A very nice Titleist golf bag is first up – ask bar staff for a card and earn a stamp for every tap beer purchased. A jug will earn you 3 stamps and a total of 4 stamps will get you one entry in the competition.

Make sure you write your membership number on the back of the stamp card.
A winner will be drawn at the next mixed shotgun event on April 11th.

Good luck!

Canterbury United Golf Day

Subs Payments

Between now and the end of our financial year (31 March) we will be reviewing all outstanding subscriptions to ensure overdue accounts are bought up to date and that monthly instalment payers are on track to pay in full by the end of 31 August.

If you have been sent an emailed statement recently please review this and get in touch if you have any queries.

Many thanks.
