Hi everyone, At 4pm today we learnt we will move to Alert Level 3 from Tuesday April 28th for an initial period of 2 weeks. A further announcement will be made on May 11th about an extension or when we will move to Alert L2. Up to this point the general view of the golfing community has been that, for a number of reasons it is unlikely that golf will be allowed to operate under L3. The email below just received from NZ Golf however seems much more positive about the possibility and it appears we will have some certainty late on Wednesday. Needless to say I will be in touch with you all as soon as a decision is announced and the guidelines under which we can open are known. From Dean Murphy – CEO of NZ Golf: Dear All, Over the weekend and through today, New Zealand Golf has continued work with government on what a move to Alert Level 3 will mean for golf.
With Sport NZ guidance, we will have confirmed regulations for golf at Alert Level 3 by the close of Wednesday this week.
It is clear that golf will be able to be played at Alert Level 3 however there will be specific restrictions and guidelines around this.
I can assure you we are pushing as hard as possible on this matter however we will not have the information confirmed by the relevant authorities until Wednesday of this week.
While this is 48 hours away, this timing will still ensure there is plenty of time for golf clubs and facilities to prepare for next week.
