Dear Guest, Friday, 23 July, 2021

Member Update – from new Club Captain Phil Barlow

Thanks to all who played in the shotgun start last Saturday. Two competitions were in play: Stableford for the ladies and Bell Mugs for the men. We were all quite thankful that the rain never came and in fact it was quite a mild day being great for golf at this time of year.

Anne Ott won the ladies stableford with 38 pts and Steph Wilhelm was in 2nd place with 35 pts. Please check the whiteboard inside the clubroom for more results.

The Bell Mugs was taken out by Paul O’Neil and Phil Barlow (87 pts), with Barry Coleman and King Huo Hu taking 2nd place (79 pts) and Ted Zhang and Ming Peng 3rd place (77 pts). There was a wee hiccup with the computing of the results, and they differ slightly from what was announced on Saturday so please check the noticeboard outside the Pro Shop for the correct results.

The men’s BCHP matchplay competition finals are this weekend with the following players in the final:

Blank: Scott Manyweathers Vs Doug Claridge

Captains: Ming Peng Vs Peter Chadwick

Harewood: Harvey Teulon Vs Alan Double

Presidents: Ted Zhang Vs Peter Larkin

Good luck to you all.

The booking sheets for the Men’s club championships will be available in the Pro Shop to book your two rounds of qualifying (choose 7th, 14th or the 21st of August). Club Champs qualifying is two rounds to qualify with the first play-off round being 28 August. You will be required to play on the days you have nominated as we have so many members wishing to enter it will be tight. We have a reserve day should the course be closed on one of the qualifying days. Please check the front of your programme for any other info relating to this competition.

Lastly, it was great to see so many fewer pitch marks and divots that needed work last weekend. Please be vigilant, especially during winter while the grass doesn’t grow nearly as fast.

Keep up the good work.

Subscriptions 2021/22 & Resignations

The new subscription levels were announced at last week’s AGM and are attached.

There was a nominal increase of approximately 1.6% with one or two other membership classes being adjusted more or less than that to bring into line with other classes, particularly age group.

If you wish to resign as at 31 August or want to change your class of membership, please advise via email to play@harewoodgolf.co.nz.

Members are reminded that the onus is on you to advise if you do not wish to renew your membership as all memberships are automatically renewed unless we are advised to the contrary – you do not have an annual membership!

Could members that are paying by installment also ensure their payments are up to date and that the full sub will be paid on or before August 31st.

Any questions please contact Neville or Martin the office – 359 8843 option 3.

Many thanks.

Midweek Men's Group Invitation

A warm welcome is extended to join our Mid-Week Mens friendly group for organised play on Mondays and Thursdays.

We offer a range of competitions and tournaments throughout the season with prizes awarded for various grades each day.

A cuppa or drink and a friendly chat afterwards completes a pleasant day out even if the golf doesn’t go quite to plan.

Old Tools Wanted

With the new shed now complete, Colin and the team are looking to add a new tool board to the workshop in there.

If any members have tools they no longer require and wish to donate then they would be very grateful to receive them. Everything and anything will be considered and if not required Colin will advise the donor or is happy to dispose of them on behalf.

These can be dropped at the greenkeeping area at any time. If there’s no one there please leave by the main shed doors.

Many thanks.
