Level 3 Golf from Tomorrow

Hi again everyone,

Just confirming we will be open for play under the Level 3 guidelines for golf outlined in the email from Golf NZ copied below, and as attached.

As per last year the rules are very prescriptive with the main one being golf is only permitted within your current bubble. Whilst there are different definitions of this (home, flatting, essential work) it does appear from the booking sheets that some of you are booking your normal 4’s.

Please go in and cancel these as this is outside the Level 3 rules. We are not the Police and ultimately it is the individual’s responsibility to manage their own risk, but not the risk of others.

Please note in particular – no toilets on course or clubhouse will be available, no scorecards or handicapping, no pin flags or bunker rakes nor drinking fountains, and online bookings only to ensure tee times are managed and recorded for contact tracing.

The driving range will also be closed but the practice area/putting green is able to be used prior to tee times but not for casual practice.

The full guidelines from Golf NZ are attached.

The email from Golf NZ reads;

Golf and Alert Level 3 – Updated Guidelines
The Prime Minister has confirmed all of New Zealand (south of Auckland) will move to Alert Level 3 at 11.59pm on Tuesday 31 August 2021.

The government has now officially updated guidelines for sport and recreation at Alert Level 3. We can confirm that golf is able to be played at Alert Level 3.

The regulations for golf are similar to the last time we were at Alert Level 3 however we request that all clubs read the updated guidelines at this link: https://www.golf.co.nz/news-detail?newsarticleid=23479&tags=Industry

The specific rules for Sport and Recreation at Alert Level 3 can viewed at this link: https://sportnz.org.nz/covid-19-response/alert-level-information/

We advise golf clubs to plan with caution for any golfing activity at Alert Level 3. The most important principle is to stay safe and to stay physically distant from people outside of your bubble. The health, safety and wellbeing of your staff, members, golf participants and the wider community is of paramount importance.
