Club Champs Finals 2021 - Men
With this weekend being Canterbury Anniversary, the course may be a bit quieter than usual, however Saturday sees the finals being played for the men’s club champs cups and plates after postponement due to Covid restrictions earlier this year. Good luck to all players and please be a little patient if you are not in the finals themselves. The rest of the men have a stableford competition.
Annual Sunday Shootout - 2021
With the Shootout closing this weekend for the men and on 20th Nov for the women, those who are on the bubble have a last round to impress and cement their position for 21 November. Should there be 2 or more in 19th position after the final qualifying round for the men, there will be a playoff for on Saturday 20 November after prizegiving, at 5:15pm at the club – meet at the front of the Pro Shop. The ladies have their 19 qualifiers ready to go. If you are already inside the top 19, but are unable to make the shootout on 21 November, please contact the Pro Shop and advise as such as soon as possible, as it may mean others may step up.
On Sunday 21 November, the men will start the day at 8:00am, and be followed by the women at 9:00am. Please be at the club at least 20 minutes prior to the tee off for instructions and rules for the day. There will be a reminder next week.
Pro Tip by Craig Mitchell
The bump and run shot around the green.
With summer and dry conditions, the bump and run shot is a good option around the greens (with maybe an eight or nine iron). One of the main things is to bounce the ball twice before the ball reaches the putting surface (the second bounce helps take the speed off the shot) so it runs more like a well weighted putt across the green.
Enjoy your golf.
Armstrong Motor Group Twilight Series 2 2021
The halfway point of the 2021 Twilight Series 2 was again very well supported with 54 players in attendance on Tuesday eve. The ladies division saw Victoria Webb-Smart take top honours with a well-compiled 22 points over Jo McNicholl (19) and Diane Deuart (18). NTP was carried over from last week so winning a $50 pro shop voucher completed a very good night for Jo. The men had some new faces on the podium with Campbell Moulder (23), Simon Toulson (22) and Taylor Killick distinguishing themselves from the 43 strong field. NTP went to Kane Boulton. Don’t forget to book in nice and early for Twilight night 4.
